“Real-Life Success Story: Jennies Journey to Overcoming Addiction through Fitness and Health”
Hello, I would like to share you an inspirational story of Jennie, and her journey overcoming addiction through fitness and health.
Like most people, she started out having a few beers after high-school with her friends. She was always pretty straight laced and even had a job and a 3.4 G.P.A throughout high-school.
Then one friday night a friend introduced her to Marijuana. She was hooked from his first puff. It seemed innocent to her. "Oh, it's just a plant and not a real drug." She said..
She also thought she could quit any time.
Then her senior year she went to a party on a saturday in October. A Halloween party. She was having a good time then a friend asked if she wanted to try Molly. She was hesitant but she was drunk and high off Marijuana so her judgment was poor, and she took the Molly and was hooked.
Then she barely graduated high-school and decided to get a job instead of go to college. That ship had sailed.
She was doing fine at first and was maintaining but the drugs and alcohol caught up with her and she was later fired from several jobs. By the time she was 25 she was homeless.
Depressed she turned to harder drugs and was in a rut. People tried to help her She even went to rehab a few times, but could never last.
Then a friend suggested that she should try working out to take her mind off of the pain and withdrawals, so she focused on slowly walking and jogging. She went to a park and did pull ups, push ups, and sit-ups. She also started eating more fruit, smoothies and clean foods.
She noticed her mood improved because of the natural endorphins from exercise. (A natural high).
She continued her routine and sought out an outpatient rehabilitation program and after 4 months she was drug and alcohol free.
The long journey seemed like it was never going to end. Having people not trust you. Losing jobs. The homelessness. The loneliness.
After the long struggle Jennie lives a normal life live with her boyfriend and has a job and is no longer homeless.
This inspirational story is true and while working out and eating healthy alone may not be the only thing that helps you over come addiction it certainly is a step in the right direction and can help with you mood and withdrawals.
If you know anyone one who is struggling with drugs and alcohol, number one, be there for them. You don't want to abandon then and cause them to socially isolate.
You can distance yourself but don’t leave them feeling like they have no one.
Drug addiction is hard and is a major epidemic in the United States.
